MEET OUR FOUNDER
Dr. Maya M. Bugg, the founder and CEO of the Bugg Consulting Group, LLC, has almost 20 years of experience in supporting clients, leading strategy and launching successful non-profit organizations and initiatives grounded in the theory of diversity, equity & inclusion. Maya has deep expertise in non-profit leadership; education policy; coaching; and infrastructure design having been a policy consultant for the U.S. Department of Education and an executive/ CEO for a variety of ed-policy/ ed-support organizations.
Currently, Maya works with clients across the country, including major for-profit companies and nonprofit entities to create strategy, coach leaders, and design qualitative and quantitative research that move each of these organizations from “intention to action” as they further build out their commitment to diversity, equity & inclusion, placing DEI in the DNA of their work.

In previous roles, Maya was charged with overseeing strategic growth, financial stability & development, and regional partner acquisition. Under her executive leadership, she scaled the impact of each organization by steadily growing their programmatic footprint and markedly increasing partner investment throughout their geographies. She worked closely with state legislators, government agencies, LEAs, CMOs, private partners and various community organizations to support the leadership required to propel their strategic initiatives and efforts. With this in mind, Maya is often viewed as the consummate leader, collaborator and catalyst of successful organizations.

Additionally, Maya has extensive experience in leadership development, executive coaching, fellowship design, and facilitation. She has supported & coached dozens of professionals in their leadership journeys; imagined and launched myriad programs, pilots & initiatives with DEI at the core; provided facilitation for ERGs within national for-profit companies; facilitated DEI sessions for over one-thousand participants; and designed leadership fellowship programs for both emerging and experienced leaders across the country.

Finally, Maya has participated in various prestigious national and local programs such as the Pahara-Aspen Fellowship and Leadership Tennessee. Her expertise has been highly sought after, as she has been invited to serve on various local, state and national committees and boards. She has also been recognized as a "Woman of Influence" and a "40 Under 40" honoree by the Nashville Business Journal. Maya earned a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania, an Ed.M. from Harvard University, and her Ed.D. in Leadership, Policy & Organizations from Vanderbilt University, where she now also serves as an adjunct professor of public policy in the doctorate program.
